The process began with a LinkedIn message from an India-based recruiter who emphasized this was an "urgent requirement." After a brief phone screening, they took 2 days to schedule the technical interview, which was set up with only 2 hours notice - I received the invitation at 6 AM for an 8 AM interview. Despite promises of prep materials and role expectations, nothing was provided. The single technical round was conducted via a proprietary video platform by CogBee (a third-party vendor), not Ascendion or Amazon staff. The interviewer, also based in India, immediately launched into technical questions without any introduction or role context, covering SQL, Python, system design, and LeetCode-hard algorithm problems (maximum subarray/sliding window). There was no discussion about the actual position, team, or opportunity to ask questions. The interview lasted 45 minutes with zero follow-up communication afterward - no rejection, no next steps, complete radio silence. The entire experience felt like a generic technical screening with no connection to the specific Lead Data Engineer role being advertised.
