      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at CCS Fundraising in Jan 2024

      Interview

I first began the interview process with CCS in December. We did an initial phone screening, then an informal 45-minute interview, both with a recruiter. From there, I was asked to pull together a presentation and writing assignment from pretty vague philanthropic data about a board. I thought it was a little too early in the process for this, but continued. After submitting, a team of "potential" colleagues reviewed and asked me to do a 90-minute situational video. The first 45-minutes were spent with two colleagues, working on the situational questions. These were all questions I've tackled in interviews before. Then, the last 45-minutes was spent doing a mock call of my presentation and answering questions, with current CCS employees mocking themselves as the nonprofit. I heard back two hours later and was asked to come in for an interview with an executive in Boston. I made the 3.5 hour trip from Vermont to Boston, paid $40 for parking and over $100 in gas, and then had a pretty informal 30-minute sit down discussion with the executive. I was ultimately told, after begging for follow-up several times a week later, that I was not chosen for the position. I'm sure time could have been invested in a Zoom interview, instead of an in-person interview that took a day out of my work and money in food, gas, and lodging. Tori was a great recruiter to work with, but the company gave off really sketchy vibes. From reading the reviews, it looks like a lot of other people have shared my experience. I would steer clear.
