I had a recruiter reach out to me multiple times to interview for various positions. The recruiters were very kind and inspired alot of excitement surrounding the company and the available roles. The recruiters mentioned they have a “long and thorough” interview process but I never made it past round two for all of the roles they put me up for, it sounds like they do an HR screen, Interview with Hiring manager, and then additional rounds which include doing an unpaid “take home project” and maybe additional panel interviews with other team members.
Overall my experience with them was more on the negative side. Multiple times I connected with a recruiter who really sold the company and whichever role they had thought i was a “perfect fit for”. While the recruiters were very kind, I would say the experience was overall on the negative end because they put me up infront of hiring managers who did not seem at all interested in me or my skill set. So I got the sense that they were a bit unorganized and misaligned in terms of what they were looking for. I had a Censys recruiter put me up for a senior role requiring 8-10 years of experience as an entry level candidate.
In addition to the frustration received from being matched with roles that were outside of my skill set by recruiters to hiring managers who didn’t seem interested at all, when I finally did get the chance to interview with a hiring manager it did not go very well. The hiring manager was preoccupied and I could tell was reading/doing orher work while interviewing me. This was disappointing because up until that point I had been very excited about the prospect of joining and was under the impression that they respected my time and candidacy. Received a rejection a few days later with interview feedback that included very vague and strange feedback, which served as a confirmation to me that the interviewer was definitely not present with me while I was interviewing and was probably reading emails while asking me to talk about myself. I got the sense that Censys is a bit of an unorganized place with a high turnover rate as they had put me up for multiple roles which were open as a result of new-ish hires jumping ship. I would hope that my interview experience was an outlier and if not I hope they will improve their process.
