I decided to withdraw my application due to my negative experience interviewing with ExamSoft. I feel as if this company is inefficient and disorganized. I would not want to be a part of an organization that feels like it is morally ok to give candidates the runaround for weeks on end.
I applied via Indeed on May 23rd, 2020. I received an assessment request roughly 3 days later in which I completed immediately. The day after I completed the assessment, I was contacted by management in order to schedule a phone call for the current week. Unfortunately, ExamSoft does not respect the time of their candidates, so, due to their lack of timely responses, the call was scheduled for the following week instead. I was fine with this, but this was certainly the first red flag.
The call I had eventually had with management was amazing. The ExamSoft rep I spoke with was very knowledgeable about the role, informative, and friendly. She stated the next step would be to speak with the hiring team. I started to have a change of heart about the company despite my negative first impression! Unsurprisingly, I was ghosted by the company after this phone call. I was still very intrigued by the role, so I reached out to thank them for taking the time to interview me. My experience with ExamSoft only gets better from here.
Once ExamSoft received my follow up email, I was asked to come in person to meet the hiring team. I informed the ExamSoft rep (I suppose, of course, they did not keep note of this) that I did not live in Texas yet, and that I would be happy to meet at the end of the following month during my visit. The ExamSoft rep then said oh "it's actually a Zoom interview since we're all still remote right now" (another red flag). I was actually very happy with this set up due to my location so I happily agreed and scheduled a time to chat with the hiring team for the same day at 3pm. However, they emailed me again and asked for 2pm instead, same day, which I obliged to (red flag #3).
I prepared, researched the company a bit more, and once it was 1:58PM and I did not hear from them I even tried creating my own Zoom link for them to use in case they encountered any technical difficulties. I did not hear from anyone once our scheduled meeting time came around. ExamSoft literally stood me up. Fortunately, I heard back from the company over an hour after our scheduled meeting --- around 3:15PM. The person I was in correspondence with was apologetic and stated the hiring manager went home early for the day. This was really unsettling for me due to prior circumstances.
ExamSoft then asks me if I am available the following week on a Tuesday around 5PM. I agreed but asked that someone give me a call or text to confirm the time. This was necessary for me to ensure my time would not be wasted. My request went completely ignored. I heard back on Monday with "_____ is out tomorrow, so what about Wednesday?"
Needless to say, I let ExamSoft know that I was no longer interested in the company.
I suppose ExamSoft's lack of time management and failure to utilize resources available makes it ok to leave candidates hanging. That is not the culture I want to be a part of. I invested so much of my time into ExamSoft, yet it went unreciprocated. I feel like it would have been best for ExamSoft to get the hiring manager's OPEN availability first, and then present it to me to choose from. I would much rather work for a company that values time management, efficiency, and accuracy.
ExamSoft should be immensely ashamed in theirselves for treating me the way they did. I certainly do not feel like I would have been a valued employee should I have accepted a job for this company.
