They will not interview you for the position you applied for. The job only opens up so that an internal can apply for the position.
The only reason they will give you an interview is to have you work in the position the internal is no longer in.

Applied online and was contacted a week later for an in-person interview. The interview was held at the store and was conducted by operations manager and deco manager. Typical first round interview questions. Interview went fine, not amazing but not bad. However, I was completely ghosted after the interview. No follow up, no rejection - nothing. Was very disheartening.
