Applied and talked to someone at one of the stores. Then, after being shifted to another store, was told you availability is an issue. Said ok np. Then they came back and said we can work with that. Then on the weeks I was supposed to train, I would get a call and say don't come in tonight as the district manager pulled some hours from the store because of slow sales. This happened for weeks. After I finally was able to complete training and was finally getting some hours, I was pulled into the backroom buy the district manager and was suspended because of my background check. Now this is two months into my job where i gave them stellar job performance with no issues at all. The following week, I was terminated. Took weeks to hire me, worked there weeks with glowing reviews, and then fired without so much as a sorry. Now this was all done after I told them I had a background and they said it wouldn't be an issue. Apparently it was. No one would take responsibility either. The district would say HR was making the call on this and HR would say it was the district manager making the call to fire me. The rabbit hole goes deeper. While I was employed there, entire store staffs at other stores were simply quitting and walking out. The ENTIRE staff to include the store managers. I asked my manager, should i be concerned? No was his answer. Then an entire district in Durham, NC had a "white washing" of staff. They simply fired everyone and started over. These jobs are extremely stressful as they are sales oriented. Not a big deal for me, but big for others. If you perform low whether the fault lies with you or not, they will let you go. I write this simply to educate people. It isn't some simple job at a video game store, it is an extremely stressful environment where staff turn over is at the highest I have ever scene for a company. Apply with caution.
