I had the most hilarious interview at Gamestop Dublin. An external recruitment agency (Have to say, the agent who spoke with me was one of the best recruiters that I have ever talked to) contacted me with regards to this profile, and as the profile matched my work experience and provided a new platform to expand my ERP horizon, it was challenging enough for me and thereby, conveyed my interest.
The agent then pushed for an interview with the team which was a pleasant experience and provided a lot of insight into the role. Then, the agent contacted me informing me that they felt I was 'overqualified' for the role, and checked whether I felt it was challenging enough for me. I informed them that the role was the exact same as my previous job experience and would indeed provide me with an expansion of my technical domain. The team then got back to me saying that the job is no more on offer as they hired the personnel 'internally'.
A few suggestions to the management -
1. Please do not put ads on job-seeking platforms, or recruit an agency for a job profile if you feel that there is enough personnel to hire internally.
2. If you feel the candidate is overqualified, please check with the candidate first before hiring a new person on to that role.
3. There is a lot of time and effort going through for candidates and recruitment agencies with regards to arranging the interviews, preparing for the role, and finding schedules. If the hiring process is external, please provide priority to the external candidates.
