I first had a phone call to screen me and to make sure that the position was right for me and that I was the right fit for them. After a week, I was given a second interview over zoom.

My screening interview was great. The lady was super kind and seemed impressed by my resume. She answered all of my questions and it felt like a good conversation. When the second interview got scheduled, it was supposed to be with five people for the first part and another couple people for the second part. Only two people showed up to the first part and the second part didn't happen. This felt unfair because I wasn't given the same interview as other people potentially were. The two who showed said the others "had meetings," but did they not know about this scheduled interview a week in advance? I know stuff comes up but it just felt disrespectful of my time. The one interviewer was fine and didn't grill me, but the other seemed to think I didn't know what I was talking about or like the experiences I had had in college and was attempting to relate to this job weren't remotely similar. After it was over, I didn't think I had done particularly poorly but I also didn't know how to read the interview at all. I continued to check in pretty much every week and was assured by the person who did my screening interview that she would give me an update when she had one, but then about a month after the interview I got an automatic rejection email (not from her) saying they had chosen another candidate. I never heard from that first recruiter again. Overall this was a disappointing experience after more than six months of applying to jobs and this being the first interview I'd gotten the opportunity to do.
