      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at McGraw Hill in May 2024

      Interview

Started off well enough, then became as unorganized and discombobulating as I have experienced in my 20 years of work. Stay with me on this one. Initial screen w/ recruiter was good. I was informed they were hiring for TWO marketing positions and I was being considered for both. First interview with Sr. Director for role A was productive and I was moved to round II about two weeks later and it seemed again to go well. Then crickets for a bit...but I was scheduled for another interview two weeks later. I was not informed this interview was for role B as I had spoken to no one to this point about it and assumed it was off the table. So I prepared as if it were a continuation of role A. It did not go well. I did follow up with the recruiter same day and ask about next steps as I was concerned / confused. I was told the hiring manager was out for a few days; I would be updated when she returned. First thing the next morning I received a very generic rejection email! I contacted the recruiter to express my confusion and was told I was rejected for role B, but role A was still in play. Why didn't you give me the heads up the rejection email was coming???? A few weeks go by with nothing, so I ping the hiring manager and recruiter - nothing! Ok, so they've moved on. A few more weeks later and I received an after-hours email from the hiring manager who apologized for the extreme delay, and said she'd be in touch very soon with next steps as they were picking up the process again. Four days later I spotted a LinkedIn post from the person announcing that they got the same job. LOL!!!!! Really expected way more from a company like this. Still waiting on that 2nd rejection email haahhaah.
