Notion had me do an initial interview with a recruiter, a screen with with the hiring manager, an interview with a (potential) teammate, and then they had me complete an extensive take home assignment, which culminated in a demo to an interview panel, as well as an interview with someone from the sales team.
I was told I would hear back in a few days. Instead, I received a generic reject email from the recruiter over a week later. Requests for feedback were ignored.
3 Months later, the job posting has been re-posted multiple times, and there are no new additions to their Solutions org that I can see on LinkedIn. This leads me to believe (as other interviewers have pointed out) they are looking to get information from these interviews, but not to actually hire anyone.
Don't do free work for this dishonest company.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Build a demo of Notion for a use case you are passionate about.
I applied online. I interviewed at Notion Labs (Dublin, Dublin)
Interview
Recruiter screen, HM interview, standard SE demo of product. I got another offer and couldn't wait around. Interview process was super slow and I wasn't kept in the loop as to how many rounds, etc., so I had no idea where I was in the interview process. Recruiter was good to prep for the different rounds. Assume they had lots of interviews on the go as had to follow up for information to find if I was through to next round despite being told 'if you can be fast, we can be fast'. No response when I informed them that I would have to take the offer I had on table. Left a bit of a bad taste. I love the product and had a good impression of the company before this but interview process made them seem disorganised and cold.
The process was a slightly longer multi round process
Recruiter screen > hiring manager > exercise > 3-4 additional one on ones
As is typical, no feedback was provided when eliminated
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Notion Labs in Mar 2026
Interview
The first thing that stood out: everyone involved is very authentic during the conversation. For this role, I went through 6 stages (all online sessions). The recruiter screen, hiring manager, XFN, technical, demo/panel (with a checkpoint meeting beforehand), and final value session (with an executive).
Having gone through the tech hiring process so many times, both as a candidate and as a hiring manager, I commend Notion for scheduling a checkpoint meeting with the hiring manager before the demo/panel session. It shows their intention to ensure the candidate has the best chance of succeeding, and it's definitely not something most companies will invest time in.
Throughout the process, the recruitment team is very respectful of my time. Communication was clear and prompt, with follow-up and feedback after every session, typically within 24-48 hours.
