      Senior MLOps Engineer Interview

      No offer

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Prove

      Interview

There was an initial phone screen which got rescheduled because the recruiter missed a plane or something. The rescheduled phone screen times were all inconvenient for me. After the phone screen you can relax, there's only 4 more hours of interviews. I asked if all of the interviews could be scheduled on the same day but even that was not doable for them and they scheduled a one hour session on Friday because one of the panel members was going on a 2 week vacation. I agreed against my better judgement and met with everyone and the team members all *seemed* very nice. The coding assessment was white boarding to create a linked list which is absurd for Python which is the main language this position utilizes and doesn't have anything to do with machine learning or AI which is 80% of this position's responsibilities. I could have easily done a great job on it but the added pressure of the hours of interviewing, having to share my screen, and the short time frame given made my implementation worse than it could have been. One of the higher-level folks I met with at the end was 18 minutes late because they thought that our interview started on the hour instead of a quarter before the hour. He was flustered, I could tell he did not know which position I was applying for and was directly reading from my resume. One of the higher-level leaders was completely flat affect. Just say no to this process, it wasted so many hours and the people are not very competent. This is coming from someone who has had similar responsibilities at a company roughly 300x the size of this one. The most rude part of it all was how everyone acted like they were impressed and really considered me a viable candidate. I would have rather they just said "based on x, we don't feel that you're qualified" to save me hours of time wasted.
