      Territory Sales Representative Interview

      Jan 12, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Softchoice (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2017

      Interview

Recruiter was very professional and I was excited to get an in person interview. However after digging in on Glassdoor I found somethings that made me stop the process. 1. There are a lot of "fake" posts on Glassdoor that were clearly posted to make the company seem like a more positive place to work. Please read all reviews and decide which you believe to be legit. 2. You have to share a hotel room with a complete stranger during their 4 week training program in Toronto. This was never mentioned to me, I had to ask after reading a Glassdoor review. 3. You are let got if you don't "pass" the training program. It should be called something else and this should be discussed immediately by the recruiter. Imagine leaving a job to take this one only to find out later you might be let go if you don't pass a 4 week training program in Toronto. Feedback: be more transparent. The above issues are hugely important when considering changing careers. I feel this was not discussed because it is a deal breaker for applicants and that is not honest.

Thanks for your review! You might be surprised to know we encourage all employees - from new recruits to tenured folks - to leave honest, transparent reviews on Glassdoor about what it's really like to work at Softchoice. We strive to do what's best for our employees, and it's through honest (and sometimes raw) feedback that we see how far we're moving that needle. I want to address two specific observations you make - room-sharing, and management expectations. People travel from all over North America to our Toronto HQ to attend our Sales Academy, and Softchoice events too. For over 25 years, Softchoice has enjoyed a culture of room-sharing. We encourage employees to reach out to their roommates, introduce themselves, and start a new relationship prior to coming to Toronto. While this is covered during the recruiting and onboarding process, it sounds like we need to do a bit more work to make folks aware of this - so thank you for that suggestion. As you also point out, we have high expectations as it relates to the performance of our sales academy graduates. Softchoice is pursuing an aggressive growth strategy, and highly trained sales reps are key to our success! We hold new sales reps to a set of KPIs mirroring reps that have been in role for some time. We also know that sales trainees that meet and exceed their targets in the program are wildly successful post-graduation. And by the way, we provide all students the opportunity to re-write their final evaluation if they are not successful the first time round.

      Application

I interviewed at Softchoice (New York, NY)

      Interview

Had 3 phone calls. The first 2 calls were good with initial recruiter. On the 3rd phone call the recruiter called me later then the specified appointment time blaming it on a meeting. Not proffesional. At the end of call I asked about all the not so good reviews on Glassdoor. She gave me a generic answer as to why that was. The next day I was sent an email stating they were going to move on with the process with more "qualified" individuals.
