      Content Writer Interview

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at UWorld in Jun 2024

      Interview

The interview began well with a phone chat with HR. This took about 45 minutes and was generally positive. They then asked me to complete an assignment which consisted of two tasks. The first task was to write a sample passage and mock questions with answer explanations. The second was answering sample test questions and again explaining your answers. The assignment was lengthy but straightforward. I completed the task quickly (in about a day) and submitted it but did not hear back for several weeks. Finally, they responded and said that the sample did not "meet their standards" and critiqued a methodological question I included on my sample. Their critique was so off-base it was ridiculous. It was just plain wrong. For reference, I have a PhD from a top 3 institution in the field they were seeking content writers in and have taught the concepts I covered in my sample at the undergraduate and graduate level. I was so shocked at their response that I consulted with several colleagues to make sure I wasn't crazy, and everyone was astounded at the incompetency of the UWorld response, which misrepresented fundamental statistics/methodological concepts . I have since seen numerous other job interview reviews with similar experiences. I wish I had seen this before I applied, because it was honestly a waste of time. I am genuinely wondering if others' suspicions about applications being a way to get content for their q-bank is true because the whole process was shady. I will say the woman from HR who I was in contact with was kind and helpful throughout. I have no clue who reviews the samples or what their motive is, but I have never had a worse interview experience in my life. This is a job I was overqualified for and honestly only applied to because I was looking to scale back on work stress to spend time with my kids. My bad I guess.

      Interview

First, you have an interview with HR. She was friendly and professional. The problem is the second stage. You have to create MCAT questions and also answer some questions. If you get one wrong, you are out. Mind you, I have multiple years of experience as a professor. I know my questions were VERY good and creative. I spend a whole weekend doing them. My impression is that someone is sabotaging the process because they are probably getting good candidates, but the job is still open. Or they want free labor? Either way, do not waste your time.

      Interview

The process is a call with recruiter followed by an assessment followed by an onsite interview. The issue is the assessment. They give you a very long assignment that involves writing and answering MCat questions. After completing and sending my questions in I was informed that the writing was not strong enough and not close enough to the MCat style. I found this strange as I modeled my question directly after the examples they provided. After looking at reviews on this website I see this a common occurrence with this company. I would not waste the time or energy with this company.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at UWorld in Aug 2024

      Interview

The first interview was by phone. It was easy enough and pleasant. Then they had an “assignment” that was ridiculously long. There were two tasks. The first was to write a test question passage with two questions (250-350 words and a plethora of other requirements). You then had to give an explanation for each right and wrong answer with an image as well as text. Then task two was to answer 3 questions outside of your field and explain why each option was right and wrong also with an image. Again with a word requirement. I paid strict attention to the requirements. I was rejected and received feedback that accused me of not being concise enough! How can I be more concise when I have to make your word count? The amount of free labor they expect is very high.
