I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Via Transportation (New York, NY) in Sep 2020
Interview
My process consisted of an initial phone screen, five interviews with members of my team and two interviews with senior leadership. Each interviewer was very attentive and thorough. The entire process took approximately 5 weeks.

Question 1
Tell me about a time that you did not meet a clients expectations and how did you deal with that?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Via Transportation in Aug 2023
Interview
When I first started my interview process, I was prepared for the worst given all of the negative reviews. However, to my surprise, I was impressed with the consistent communication with the recruiter. I had a phone screening with the recruiter who immediately scheduled an interview with the hiring manager. I then spoke with two members of the Via team (one was the hiring manager's boss and another member of the larger Via team). Overall, the interviews were pleasant and fairly easy. One of the interviewers brought up having "thick skin" dealing with partners, which I thought was a red flag. Her tone throughout the interview was a little abrasive and rude, so I'm genuinely not too upset about not moving forward. I received a call from a random New York number that they were not moving forward with my candidacy. It was odd that she called me (without notifying me) when an email would have sufficed. I agree with other people that the process seems pretty drawn out. But given that I was fairly far in the interview process at the 2-week mark, it seems like they've gotten better at streamlining their unconventional interview process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Describe what Via does - Share a time when you worked with many stakeholders - Different small case studies for each interview about a transportation product (want to know how you go about problem-solving)
They put you through 6 round of interviews to only reject you for no reason. And then you see them constantly repost the job on LinkedIn. So no-one is good enough?
I wasn’t interviewed.. I received an email asking to put my availability for a phone call. I did that, and a person sent me a message saying that I could not move forward because I had applied to other positions with Via, saying that I could not be considered for more than one, and that it was “company policy.” I expressed that if that was the case that it should be put on their job board so that other candidates are aware. Their tone was far from professional, almost blaming me for having put an application in for other positions as well, as at times some positions may be posted but not actively looking. I expressed I felt disappointment over them reaching out to later reject me on the spot, and adding the fact that I had negative experiences with Via’s recruiters before, I am not surprised.
