I interviewed at Via Transportation (New York, NY)
Interview
It was straight forward with phone screening first and then zoom and in person interviews. Only went through the phone screen and didn’t go forward. Make sure you prepare well with your own experiences and stories to share
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Via Transportation in Dec 2024
Interview
They clearly care a lot about finding the right person, unfortunately the interview process was very uncomfortable with rapid-fire situational questioning. Back-to-back interviews with no breaks equals a poorly designed interview, setting up candidates for failure due to exhaustion/fatigue. Candidates are not going to feel comfortable asking for breaks when scheduled like this with busy internal interviewers. I did not ask, but each interviewer stated they make the interview process difficult on purpose.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Via Transportation (New York, NY) in Aug 2022
Interview
I applied in June with a staffing firm that I have worked with in the past. My experience with the staffing firm was EXCELLENT. My experience with VIA was just another game of recruiter roulette.
I was asked to phone screen with the staffing agency, was short listed without having to take an assessment test due to my portfolio, active staffing site linkedin presence, job seeker podcast & video show, and after 4 weeks I was finally contacted by Via for an interview.
My screener was very nice, commending me on my accomplishments and my qualifications. The next day I
was blindsided when I received a generic canned rejection letter that they were moving on with more qualified candidates as they were all just as impressive as me. Yea, right-o.
A week and change later and the job was re-posted. So much for those other candidates, huh? Numbers games all the way!!!
I run an entire staffing firm, there is no reason for this impersonal behavior from a recruiter who is getting paid to literally communicate with people. I also had a door to door commute to the location, all of the skills necessary and more, and the full qualifications needed to perform this job.
We spoke extensively in the call about the importance of feedback however this company chose to send a canned response. This tells me that this company has poor hiring practices, extreme micromanagement (on site 4 days - not really "hybrid") and no decency towards their applicants.
This should have been a perfect fit. I'm saying this as a commission based recruiter with a proven track record staffing for companies that provide the software, hardware, office equipment,, and even the paint on the walls at Via's office.
Cancelling my Via Jersey City account.
DO BETTER.
