Zoran's chips handle multimedia tasks quicker than Zorro handled a sword. The company designs specialized integrated circuits (ICs) and software for digital video and audio compression applications. Its JPEG-based products compress images for PC editing and for use in color scanners and filmless cameras, while its MPEG-based products compress video and audio data for DVD players. Its semiconductors also find their way into digital video recorders, digital televisions, and mobile phones. Zoran provides audio processors and IC cores for video encoder and decoder chips. Customers include Hewlett-Packard, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, and SANYO. In February 2011 Zoran agreed to merge with UK-based CSR.
