not the worst but far from the best

Pros

opportunity to grow within company due to high turnover so there is always a position you can advance to.

Cons

besides branch operations training there isn't any formal training for back of house operations, which leads to a ton of frustration from all parties.

Pros

The people were some of the most genuine people I ever met and really cared about the members and their fellow co-workers. A+ is an authentic business that stands by their core values throughout the company from the highest level of executives to the tellers on the teller line. They will work with your schedule no matter if you're a college student or a new parent.

Cons

The only reason that I stopped working here was due to the inability to receive higher pay after I graduated college. Most of the positions can be obtained without a degree, which makes it hard to get a "leg up" pay wise. You'll just have to work your way up by experience.

Pros

Good starting salary at $15 approx. Decent benefits for full time, with 2 weeks paid vacation

Cons

Dropping dividend returns Less branded products for member promotions Large shift to predominantly part time employees Part time employees must work 6 days a week and no Saturdays off Secret Shopping (MEEs) are used as a threat for termination. This entails meeting a minimum of 4.52 out of 5. There are 5 categories which includes presentation, quality of service, accuracy, knowledge and up-selling. The up-selling portion is the smallest category but holds the most weight. If the shopper marks not getting a cross-sale, it ruins the whole score, even if the other 5 categories are perfect scores, the result is under 4.5. In other words, if you're great at your job with perfect service scores and consistently positive comments from the shoppers but not at selling, you get written up. 3 bad MEEs = termination. This company now only cares about the bottom line and no longer the service. The application for A+ FCU and the 2 week training states that the teller position is NOT a sales focused job. The focus is on the member, cross selling when you see a need, but not required to push products and close the sale with every member that comes through.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate the feedback and that you took the time to provide some advice. At A+FCU, we do not ask our team members to push or dump products onto our members. We expect that as service providers mentioning a product or service that would benefit our members is a reasonable request. It is not our intent that the Member Experience Evaluations (MEEs) be the sole indicator of an employee’s performance. They are intended to be a support tool for managers to utilize when coaching employees for service in line with our Core Values. As service providers, we must be the one to offer a product or service that will help our members. If we do not ask for their business, someone else will.—Rob Tomasino, Chief Operations Officer & Tricia Lewis, AVP Human Resources
