Legal Assistants at Shearman are treated like Associates, so they are treated with a lot of respect and give substantive responsibilities. Excellent team to work with, everyone is friendly and respectful. Excellent training and growth opportunities. Diversity and Inclusion initiatives are at the forefront of the firm, at both worldwide and practice group levels.

Cons

Very poor work-life balance. 24/7 on-call nature. Expected to be reached anytime, even on vacation, weekends, or holidays. Substantial late-night and weekend work.

Majority of the time, the people were great. Onsite cafeteria. location to subway is close.

Cons

Company took all the great perks etc. for staff, holiday/summer parties far and few if any. Just changed drastically compared to how it used to be. lost that family homey feeling. Now it seems like its just all about the quick turnover. lots and lots of changes.
