Pros

close knit staff, some autonomy, great volunteers, terrific working conditions, excellent salaries and benefits

Cons

a little bureaucratic, state director has many administrative and managerial responsibilities which sometimes takes him/her from acting as spokesperson throughout the state, engaging in media opportunities, and working with coalitions..

Pros

Compensation and benefits are good.

Cons

Anyone thinking of working there should first take a look at the compensation levels of execs at the top (it's public info; just find a recent 990 tax return online). That will tell you pretty much everything you need to know about why top management invests heavily in short-term revenue-generating schemes without long-term vision and pays little heed to morale lower down the org chart.
