Pros

AARP employs many smart and talented people and maintains a generally positive work environment. There is a good tradition of cross functional teamwork, employee recognition programs and fringe benefits.

Cons

The IT environment is constantly changing and lacks clear, obtainable objectives. Large amounts of effort are often expended on avenues that do not yield benefits to the organization or its members. Frequent reorganizations and downsizing occur as a result.

Pros

decent cafeteria; nice building; some nice colleagues; reasonable work hours; headquarters located in an interesting part of Washington; standard benefits

Cons

Hubris--at least on the part of my managers. Unreasonable job expectations. Lousy gym. Unfair review, both in terms of substance and process. Moody department head.
