Pros

Ability to work from home, if approved by your manager ahead of time. Relaxed dress code. Gym and lunchroom on-site. “Flash events” that include treats.

Cons

Very “heads down” environment. Sit at your desk for 8-9 hours a day in a cube with high walls that prevent any collaboration or discussion across employees. No one talks to each other. If you try to talk to anyone or just say a friendly “hello”, you’re given a dirty look or a scowl. If you walk through the halls, all you’ll hear are keyboard clicks. This is completely foreign to me, coming from other companies where collaboration is encouraged and required to meet a common goal. Incompetent management that don’t ever check in on their employees or really know what their employees are working on. Managers sit in their offices behind closed doors and don’t ever come out to see how their employees are doing or try to build relationships with them. The most interaction you’ll have is if you bump into each other in the break area. No team meetings. Just random emails sent from your manager that have no bearing on your job. Those “flash events” are supposed to encourage discussion between people throughout the company, but most people grab their treat and leave. Absolutely zero networking opportunities, which will prevent growth within the company. You can also attempt to email someone within the company about a job you may be interested in and want to talk to the head of that department, and they’ll never respond to you. Pretty disheartening when we’re told about all the growth opportunities when we first started. There is a reason why they ask you to complete a Glassdoor review in your new hire checklist...you get in, have stars in your eyes, and are all gun-ho about the job. It takes about 3-6 months to see what this place is truly like. Word to the wise: do NOT do your review until you’re a few months in. Guaranteed your perspective will change.

Pros

- Flexibility - Industry Leader in payments - Great people - Good collaboration

Cons

- Constant change - Reorgs every 6 months it seems - Lack of loyalty to tenured employees - Unrealistic expectations - Unspoken expectation to continually put in 40+ hours (this is the norm, not the exception) - Promotes people to managers without them being a good fit

Pros

The job itself takes a few days worth of training and a few weeks of practice to become adept. The pay is good, and the hours are terrific. You can manage your own work place and the work/life balance in this one is absolutely superb.

Cons

I cannot for the life of me find a single facet of this job that i don't like. The work, the culture, the pay, and the life balance are wonderful, and even the facilities, equipment, network, and building are all well maintained and pleasant to use.
