When the training salary runs out, you're completely reliant on commission so you'll need to have really mastered sales by that point. I think it lasts for 3 months or so, and it gets smaller each paycheck with the assumption that you are now making more and more in commission. The salary that you are quoted in the interview/your hiring paperwork is based on the assumption that you always meet the minimum quota for the month.
The sales appointments that are set up through the company are not always the best. There were several times I would drive out only to not have any products in the portfolio of offerings that matched the customer's needs.
My territory was huge, and it seemed like every appointment I got was way out in the middle of nowhere. At times it did not feel like the expenses involved in driving out to the appointments were worth the commission on the sale.
At the time I was there, you also had to compete with online sales, phone sales, and authorized dealers - all of whom were typically able to offer a better deal than you.
