Pros

As an outdoor sales person, your hours are mostly your own. There may be some mandatory meetings depending on your team, but for the most part you can make your own schedule. The commission percentage was pretty decent and uncapped, and the training salary was also a nice touch. You do get some company provided sales appointments. If you are not closing sales, I think they start giving you fewer leads but I'm not sure. The team I was a part of also liked to do some group sales activities where we would go to neighborhoods together. This was nice as someone who was new to sales and slightly intimidated about knocking on random doors. I got the impression that sales is kind of a revolving door of new staff, but there was still a very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Training for sales was top notch. We spent a long weekend near headquarters in Florida. All costs were included, so I had a free flight, free hotel room at a nice hotel, lunch and dinner provided during training, and then per diem for dinner. I knew nothing about sales prior to taking this job, and felt very adequately prepared to do it after leaving the training seminars.

Cons

When the training salary runs out, you're completely reliant on commission so you'll need to have really mastered sales by that point. I think it lasts for 3 months or so, and it gets smaller each paycheck with the assumption that you are now making more and more in commission. The salary that you are quoted in the interview/your hiring paperwork is based on the assumption that you always meet the minimum quota for the month. The sales appointments that are set up through the company are not always the best. There were several times I would drive out only to not have any products in the portfolio of offerings that matched the customer's needs. My territory was huge, and it seemed like every appointment I got was way out in the middle of nowhere. At times it did not feel like the expenses involved in driving out to the appointments were worth the commission on the sale. At the time I was there, you also had to compete with online sales, phone sales, and authorized dealers - all of whom were typically able to offer a better deal than you.

Pros

Excellent product. Lots of smart and talented people. Especially at the District level. They are the people who plug the leaks and do their best under awful conditions and minimal training and support.

Cons

Unbelievably poor leadership at the Vice President level. Fake culture and fake news throughout the company. When employees speak freely it is quite sad.
