Pros

In 2014, AECOM acquired URS Corporation. Overnight the employees count doubled. Management talked highly about the synergy of diverse talents. Opportunity to solve toughest problems of clients in 150 countries. Higher revenue. Cost savings.

Cons

Many of the legacy URS employees lost their professional titles and responsibilities. Some got reassigned/demoted with different responsibilities. Some were let go. Everybody (l-URS) felt concerned about their future. Low morales remains pervasive.

Pros

It's a job. Some people don't have them.

Cons

All the reviews posted here by current employees after the 30 June release of employee engagement survey results are a cheap attempt at grandstanding. Don't believe the hype -- this company is a machine built on the backs of disgruntled employees, driven by inept managers, and fueled by pure incompetence. Top management would rather look good than actually be good. It's a sick joke and employees are the punchline. Upper management doesn't know and doesn't care how poorly entry level employees are treated and barely understand what we do on a daily basis.

Pros

AECOM has a lot of very smart and talented employees who work very hard. It is a prestige Fortune 500 global engineering firm with a large variety of clients and projects.

Cons

Morale is a big problem with voluntary turnover north of 12 percent. AECOM has many layers of bureaucracy. Enormous pressure on financial metrics including an aggregate operations utilization goal of 81 percent. Senior managers in the US get an email every Sunday regarding utilization performance in their group.
