Pros

AGC is an extremely active investment bank in terms of deal count, and its lean deal teams require junior bankers to learn quickly and immediately contribute to projects. Unlike larger banks, AGC gives responsibility of more difficult tasks to capable junior bankers, providing analysts the opportunity to own workstreams that only associates or VP at other banks would typically own. Given the number of deals everyone is staffed on, junior bankers have the opportunity to experience each stage of a deal within their first few months, as most projects will initially be in different phases. This allows analysts to gain understanding of the entire deal cycle very quickly, and also keeps the day-to-day interesting and unique. For me, AGC was a great place to learn and get ahead of my peers at other banks who were not able to take on the more difficult responsibilities. If you are looking to move into other areas of finance, AGC will provide you well beyond the toolkit that is needed to succeed. If you are looking to pursue a career in banking, AGC is a great place to move up the ranks quickly if you are willing to put in the work and push yourself.

Cons

AGC would benefit from hiring more bankers outside of partners, it can be difficult to be engaged on 5/6 projects at the same time. This definitely results in longer hours and people being frustrated with what is asked of them. Pay is also below market for the juniors. Overall a few minor improvements could go a long way for the firm's success and employee satisfaction.

Pros

Coming into AGC as a college graduate, you are ramped up through an intensive training program and then quickly moved into working on live deals. They give a large amount of responsibility to their analysts as they are pivotal members of each stage of the deal. Leading work streams and talking to senior management daily made a tremendous impact on my personal growth, which is unlike the exposure you may receive from other banks. As a second year analyst, your responsibility grows as a you take on more challenging and rewarding tasks and also play an important role in the mentorship and improvement of the analysts below. AGC is an extremely active bank working across all technology / software sectors. With that high volume, you are given the chance to work on a multitude of deals with highly knowledgeable partners within their respective sectors. You truly learn how a software business operates and gain valuable insights into the markets they play in. One of the biggest pros I found at AGC is the type of people you work alongside. You must be resourceful to succeed at AGC and all team members were there since my first day offering exceptional support and were genuinely invested in my improvement. They also hold weekly training sessions led by partners and other senior members that aid in your development at the firm. AGC has very bright and hard-working individuals, which has resulted in the creation of many strong relationships that I will carry forward throughout my professional career. The Company does a great job at rewarding the hard work and creating a fun and inclusive culture by holding many outings throughout the year.

Cons

Since AGC is an extremely active sell-side bank, hours may sometimes be long as you are stretched thin across multiple deals. However, the long hours and tight timelines enable you to build a strong work ethic and gives you practice in highly stressful situations. There is a strict WIO policy, which I would have liked to see be more flexible, but I did find the in-person contact expedited my growth at the Company.

Pros

As an Analyst at AGC Partner’s European office you get training and experience that you just don’t find elsewhere. Working in tight deal teams and managing multiple deals at any one time, you work and train closely with both Associates and VP’s and take on work and responsibilities at a much earlier stage in your career. Specialising in Tech, AGC Partners also provides the opportunity to learn about specific technologies and sectors, directly from the CEOs and founders of your clients. Additionally, the firm provides weekly training sessions where Partners and Associates take the time to help Analysts build upon their work and skills. Overall the firm provides an exceptional opportunity for anyone looking to follow a career in Investment Banking, especially in the fast moving world of Tech M&A.

Cons

As with any job in this industry the hours can be long and difficult, but at AGC, the CEO personally checks in to make sure you are getting the right work life balance if it has been a busy period in the office.
