Toxic management and inconsistent policies
Pros
In general the younger members of the team are nice, you can have a chat with them and people help out when you're stuck with things
Cons
You will be super micro-managed by the higherups, I was getting told I was late when I was walking in 10 minutes early, and even if you're in on the dot they will make a note that you're late, if you're going to be 1 minute late you also need to call in, I understand lateness and accountability but this was unreasonable especially when people are travelling 1.5 hours to get there. My senior would tell me she doesn't mind me coming in 2/3 minutes late due to my bus times but when it got brought up in front of managers I was completely thrown under the bus. I was having stomach issues and they brought up that I was taking too long when I was in the toilet. They say I take too long to get started as I'm 'faffing' about making tea and chatting when they only thing I'd do is fill up my water and get started. But when they want to take vape/smoke breaks for 15 minutes at a time multiple times in the day there is no issue. They also say casual wear but have different rules for different people, I'll get told off for wearing a baseball cap but my colleague can come in wearing her beanie. People would snitch on other colleagues unprovoked over small issues like checking the news for 5 minutes in the morning as you are on a non-work website. There is a lot of inconsistent enforcement as it is quite cliquey. They told me I was behind on my learning and say you need to seek out the training without telling you what training you need. When I repeatedly ask they then gave me a training plan listing what I need to do and where I should be and then kept changing the goalposts for when these things were satisfactory - I completed the training plan to the point I was helping the people that were there longer than me and also new starters and it still wasn't good enough - I had no confidence in seniors to help, they'd make you feel stupid for finding things difficult They'd reject annual leave all the time not just for me but my colleagues as well which led to a disgruntled team as one person may be accepted but another would have it rejected even if there was no issues. There would be designated half days before public holidays where the entire company finish at 1:30pm - seniors would make the department stay till after 2pm. When it came to Eid you'd have to beg months in advance for even half a day off - I was told another Muslim colleague on my team was happy to work on Eid which meant I could get the half day off however when I asked the Muslim colleague he told me nobody had asked him or told him anything which really upset him as he was in the same boat as me asking for the day off months in advance - management will just say "we'll see closer to the time" and then pick and choose who can have days off and who can't and then tell stories to different colleagues. This Muslim colleague handed in his notice shortly after due to this issue and more. When I eventually handed in my notice my WFH benefits were revoked. It was also very hard to move departments as each department is very compartmentalised meaning you only learn your tasks which don't transfer to other departments. The salary is low when considering the role and what you actually have to do - Before I joined I saw on Glassdoor that the staff turnover for this department was very high.. I was also told briefly how it was by friends in other departments - I didn't take notice of this but soon found out. I have friends in other departments who are very happy.. avoid working for Cash Operations
