Field Case Manager (adjuster)

Pros

Claim load is usually manageable. Territory is workable. Computer system is stable. Case Mangers generally can control their schedules with the exception of when multiple reports are due; then field work takes second place and that can be detrimental to investigation and medical management. Working from home allows control of the work environment.

Cons

Salary is not competitive at all. Employees must provide their own vehicle for extensive travel and the reimbursement is geared toward minimizing company expense. See Runzheimer's web site before considering applying. Employees must pay for internet and cell phone then seek reimbursement. Don't expect to have authority to do anything, and I do mean anything. Expect to be mico-managed to the extreme. They are more focused on report writing than actually working the claims.

Pros

Open and welcoming co-workers (for the most part). Typically laid back as far as work load goes. The company as a whole will do a lot for the employees, and there are a lot of additional perks with the company, including Christmas parties, Halloween is a LOT of fun, Dress down Fridays and the entire month of December, competitions, and an overall enjoyable atmosphere.

Cons

Pay is fairly low for the work and stress level. Management (VPs) have a tendency to micro manage and can make you feel like time off is an annoyance. Vacation and personal time accrue at a miserably slow rate. Flexing time is not an option

Pros

Great networking opportunities, flexible hours if you are a field employee.

Cons

Poor benefits, poor communication, micro-managing at many levels within the organization, low comissions, low base pay, poor pricing models, vast overlap exsits between roles.
