Pros

Working at AMLI offers the rare balance of structure, support, and autonomy. Leadership listens and delivers, resources and tools are top-notch, and growth is attainable for those willing to work for it. The culture is genuine and collaborative, with real care for residents and communities, strong benefits, competitive pay, and teamwork that actually works.

Cons

It’s a fast-paced environment that can overwhelm if you don’t thrive on it, and accountability is high so this isn’t the place to coast.

Pros

Supportive and approachable immediate supervisors and coworkers; day-to-day team dynamics were generally positive, though occasionally clique-ish. Volunteer and community involvement opportunities were encouraged and well-organized. Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with FP&A and Power BI teams provided a chance to build broader skills. Gained valuable experience managing full-cycle accounting for multiple properties—great hands-on responsibility early in your career.

Cons

Very top-heavy leadership structure, with noticeable favoritism and internal promotions often tied to personal connections. Return-to-office policy felt unnecessary, especially given that competitors in the sector allow fully remote work for similar roles. Signs of offshoring accounting functions suggest a long-term strategy to cut costs, impacting job security and career growth. Advancement opportunities are heavily concentrated within the Finance team, limiting upward mobility for accounting roles. Compensation is on the lower side relative to the scope of responsibilities, which include acting as a mini-controller and collaborating with FP&A and analytics teams. Use of Workday for financials is uncommon in the industry, which can limit career mobility since most firms use other systems.
