Pros

Reliable income, bonus incentives, employees have a choice to live on AMLI property for a reduced rental rate.

Cons

Family?! An AMLI employees sole function is to ensure a steady rate of return on investors profits. No offerings of employee share holding and an employees retirement plan is offered in the form of a 401K which ultimately metamophosises into profits for the same entity which you are employed by. This is indeed living in a dream state. Star performers are often overlooked with the intent to undermine for the sake of those who fit in with the popular crowd, a popularity culture much likened to that in which was experienced during our times with middle and high schooling days. Strangest environment ever employed into.

We strive to provide our employees with an opportunity to develop and grow in their careers and our mission is to provide an outstanding living environment for our residents. We have a vibrant company culture in So Cal that we are proud of. AMLI is a for profit company, as are all multifamily housing companies. AMLI is not a public company, so we do not have company stock and thus we do not make any money with our 401(k) plan. The plan is there solely to help employees save for retirement and we encourage participation with our company match. In fact, we increased the company match in 2017 in an effort to ensure employees have more financial security in their future. We recognize our star performers in many ways. For maintenance employees they are rewarded with bonuses for renewals, awards for customer service counts and many other annual and bi-annual awards. Although it looks like you have left AMLI, you are still welcome to call Human Resources, your former Regional Manager and or President of the Region to give us more insight into your feedback and experience. We would certainly appreciate the opportunity to hear more details. Best wishes for your success in your new company.

Best Company I Have Worked For!!

Pros

Hello AMLI family, I have worked for this company for over 25 years. I am very thankful to be working for them for so long, and am beyond belief that they are the reason why I am doing well. When I first started working for AMLI I was one of few foreign-born workers. After all these years I have managed to become a citizen, raise a family, send all my kids to college, and become a grandmother. Some things that are clear is that they offer a flexible work schedules and also make the workplace kind and friendly for everybody. Jerks are not tolerated and they also emphasize good moral. Amli cares about its employees and fosters a culture that is creative and fun. They often involve family activities which just goes to show they understand people have lives outside of work. AMLI's mission inspires us to do our best. The company has a good incentive program and also rewards great customer service. Lastly, they pay a decent wage. Thank you!

Cons

Enforcing teamwork would be a good idea. When our residents notice the difference of when the apartment complexes have/have not been maintained. We should strive to have everything spotless at any given time.

Assistant Manager

Pros

Branding: Because of the company's image, a lot of traffic is generated based solely on the AMLI name. People: AMLI hires some great people from assistant community managers and below. Policy: AMLI has a policy for just about everything! It is a wonderful resource to find answers to most questions that you have. Product: Most of the AMLI communities have an awesome product. The properties that they build are always top-notch, and most of the properties that they acquire are decent.

Cons

Branding: Because of the company's promise to provide exceptional service, there tends to be an unrealistic expectation once prospects become residents. The bulk of the work is with the on-site team, and depending on how strong/seasoned the office team is, it tends to create tons of work for the knowledgeable employees. People: Community managers and higher are untouchable. Most workers below that title have unparalleled talent, but depending on the community manager, your full potential may not ever be reached. A lot of current employees are unhappy in their roles and there is not a real "open door" or "safe" way to report issues that are occurring on-site without being branded a problem employee. Facade: Don't believe everything that you hear. The AMLI FAMLI facade is typically for social events, but the real AMLI FAMLI tends to form with members of your own team, and typically the high-achievers. Growth: If the development team likes you, then you are good to go! Advancing in this company tends to be very political, and typically isn't based on merit. Not every new job opening is posted, and versus granting opportunities to current employees, they will typically hire new talent for the most desired positions. Business: If the community is generating the money that it's supposed to, then the "how" does not matter. Community managers receive most of the praise when things go well.

The HR department and our management teams work with employees at all levels to develop career opportunities and to help them be successful in their roles, as well as address concerns when they arise. I encourage you to reach out to HR, your RM and/or your President for further discussion and assistance. Most of our job opportunities are filled by internal candidates and our rate of internal promotions is quite high. We have a variety of recognition events, communications and incentives geared to reward the office and maintenance teams.
