Pros

Working from home is about it .

Cons

Pay is awful, commission structure is a joke. Management is blind to the day to day expectations and is more concerned about taking time off and selling false expectations. Most have not recruited in 3-5 years. You are not valued just a number until you quit. The huge gap in employees tenure should say it. They have either been there for 6 years or 1 year nothing in between. This is a HUGE red flag. Those that have been there for 6 years have it made. Unlimited time off. All the inherited turnover from those that have quit. Jobs created for them when they are ready to step away. That is not for everyone. If you are not in the IN crowd they will not look at you for advancement. We had the best manager who was ignored and never given a chance to shine. When she left, several us made a pack to find new jobs and leave. She was the only honest person who actually cared. However because all of her team liked her and the “popular” crowd did not she was stagnant.

Pros

I think the only thing I can say here is that employees bond when they have a manager treating them all disrespectfully and unprofessionally. I made many friends, but that was not enough to make me stay with this chaotic company.

Cons

When I say they don’t care about employees, I mean it. When you have to put retention on your annual goals, you know there is a problem. Unfortunately, the upper management is not willing to look at the managers of groups with high turnover and that will lead to their demise. I was belittled, scolded, and yelled at on more than one occasion. When I brought this to the attention of a higher up, they did nothing. Nothing changed. And somehow, managers like this get promotions and bonuses on a regular basis. If you’re an employee of this company, be prepared to work. A lot. And they will continue to give you more and more work, even when you tell them it’s too much. This is due to the high rate of turnover and lack of rehiring. And on top of that, the upper management decided to acquire more companies without the workforce behind it to support those integrations. It’s ironic that a workforce company can’t support its own workforce. Unfortunately, that is the norm at AMN. Take this into consideration before you look into working here.

Pros

It was a great company to start my career in. The Healthcare industry is very lucrative, and there is a stability in working for the biggest healthcare staffing company. The company taught me general corporate America skills, and helped me build my resume.

Cons

There is a lot of disconnect between the sales team, and the back office teams. The higher up managers don't seem to take this problem seriously enough, and it leads to dissatisfaction among both teams. The burn out rate is extremely high, and the turnover rate is even higher. Young professionals are asked to maintain a workload that is unreasonable, and many fail or quit. AMN is not flexible in their policies, and is not growing with the times fast enough. While they have started to improve their technology, it came too late and now the employees are paying for a lack of good enough technology. The corporate office is in the middle of an upper class neighborhood in San Diego, but AMN does not pay their employees enough to live in the area or anywhere near the area. Many employees are driving an hour each way to the corporate office, in traffic. While employees choose where to live, AMN is not flexible or accommodating to these types of employees, They do not over remote positions often, which adds to the turn over and dissatisfaction rates. Often times the CEO and VP speak about how well AMN is doing, but employees don't usually reap the benefits of working for the biggest and most profitable healthcare staffing company. I worked there over 5 years and my last merit increase was a mere 1%. While I appreciate having a merit increase, it was a slap in the face after receiving a glowing evaluation and working diligently for them for over 5 years. I left shortly after.
