Pros

The only good thing I have to say now is I am thankful for the amazing friendships I have made over the last 10 years while working at AMN. There's a few good ones left but they too are looking to get out now.

Cons

Once upon a time this company truly cared about their employees. Not anymore. I gave my life to this company for 10 years and they completely chewed me up and spit me out. I am not a disgruntled employee. I am broken hearted over the undeserved treatment I received. I'm not the only one. It seems AMN is finding any excuse to "get rid" of a lot of women over 40 who are at the top of their pay scale and who have been with the company 10 or more years. It happened to me and many others in the last year, over and over. Then they claim "we're an At Will company, we can do what we want". Oh, then they will deny your unemployment but don't worry, you will have a hearing and the judge will rule in your favor as AMN's reason for denial will be unfounded. They are getting to greedy and too big for their britches. Also, HR is also not for you, but management only.

Pros

The training you receive is a great foundation. Other than that, you've come to the wrong place

Cons

The list grows by the day. Lack of resources available from management. High school cliques run the sales floor. The management staff essentially is the product of rejected Jenny Craig and Nordstrom staff. Consistently being told to just make more phone calls and throw the Nurses concerns to the wayside. As a recruiter here you feel like a number, like just another gear in the machine with no true purpose. The pay is the lowest in the industry with an Attrition rate of 65% for first year employees! They tried offering a higher pay which is a total joke compared to the other agencies just about 7 minutes drive from this place. They do not care about their nurses or employees plain and simple. the internal culture is presented as one that is positive and growing! Could not be any more opposite. Also beware. Christmas time is their favorite time to let employees go.

Pros

Certain areas of AMN offer an opportunity to advance if you can join the right department or are connected to the right senior leader.

Cons

I joined AMN to advance my career but I am starting to believe I made a mistake. I have been re-organized twice since I have started with AMN, negating the reasons I accepted an offer with the company and my recruiter’s assurances regarding advancement opportunities and salary potential. On multiple occasions, my latest manager (a senior, long-tenured manager) has made derogatory comments about me to me and others, asked me inappropriate questions during meetings, and belittled me in email exchanges. This now makes daily interactions highly uncomfortable and sometimes hostile for fear of retaliation if I reported these incidents to senior leadership or HR. Other employees have advised me that HR will not take my concerns seriously or conduct a review in confidence to protect me from retaliation since employees that have reported in the past have been forced out of the company or placed on performance improvement plans within months of reporting manager issues. As for my job, the orientation and onboarding experience was an indicator of what was to come – poor communication, chaotic decision making and a culture of disrespect. While your position/department will dictate if you receive any training or timely access to the tools needed to do your work, my experience thus far is that you are on your own to figure things out and find your way without guidance from management or formal training. My repeated requests for support and training have mostly been met with avoidance and redirected blame. I’ve been directly told that I am unable to adapt or “fit in” when I request training, ask for process documents or ask questions to meet my job responsibilities. Meetings to seek information or build relationships are ignored or not attended by established employees. Training requests have been denied. Strategy changes quarterly. Cliquish behavior excludes me from meetings and important projects that are part of my job.
