Pros

APL offers competitive pay, benefits and opportunity for those that are wiling to work for it. As with any company their size, you will need patience and a willingness to make the effort.

Cons

The IT systems need improvement, the company needs to invest in upgrading the systems to improve the business going forward.

Pros

It used to be the best place in the world to work. Great people, great pay, great direct managers and great benefits.

Cons

The company moved to Nashville and all of those great things went out the window. Now a terrible company to work for. Dictatorial managers, half the pay, draconian management methods, terrible morale.

Pros

I worked at the Englewood, CO office for over 10 years. The pay & benefits were excellent. My co-workers were some of the best people around. I probably would have stayed with APL a long time if they had not moved to Nashville. Not sure what the Nashville environment is like. Have only heard hearsay.

Cons

Managers were either really good or really bad. The really bad ones knew the right people so they could get away with just about anything & still have a job. But in the end most of them lost their jobs when APL moved from Englewood to Nashville. Also hard to advance or move in the company because again it was who you knew not how qualified you were for a position.

Pros

Great pay, great benefits, nice office space, but not much else. Maybe one or two cool coworkers when they're not totally frustrated.

Cons

Where to even begin. First of all management does not use the main platform you will use everyday themselves, the tool. That platform maybe the worst, slowest, and most time consuming platform ever made. Coworkers constantly lost hours of slaving away work when the tool crashes. The coworkers teach you this thing not the supervisor, so good luck if you have issues with it. Then there are these arbitrary rules for deciding whether you will send stuff off in the tool to the trade team or whether you will quote the person directly. However these change like daily? Or maybe minutely? Ridiculous. You can sell anything this way. One day it's direct quoted the next you need approval, then the account managers get mad at you for incorrect info. That's pretty inefficient but they have no plans for change. The mainframe system with all the routes is from the 1970s. You might as well remove your eyeballs after looking at that thing a while. The directors "managers" are constantly gone, so you are babysat by your fellow coworkers who haven't been there but say a few months but act like they are god and you are Goliath. You are nothing and you'll be treated as such until you been there a while and even still you are just a minion.

Pros

Decent pay for the area, some management can be flexible and compromising with the employees. Open discussion within groups keeps information flowing

Cons

Constant change and upheaval, management being pulled in too many directions. It is a struggle to be heard. Not as much cross border interaction between teams as would like

Pros

Great people, great benefits & pay, and longevity. The union really looks out for the non corporate employees! The union is the reason for such great benefits & pay!

Cons

You are walking on eggshells for the first 90 days! Do not get sick or Miss work for any reason what so ever. They will not tolerate any absence in the first 90 days. Even under doctors care.

Pros

not much that i can think of.

Cons

Benefits are not good. Pay is relatively low compare to other liner company. increment is bad too. Not much of work-life balance as working OT is normal in this company. Culture wise, not professional as most of the people here spend too much time on lunch.
