Pros

There are minimal positive aspects from my experience. Micromanagement, poor training structure, and one-way communication from management create an unsupportive work environment.

Cons

The work environment is very closely monitored, including movement and break timing, which can create pressure and reduce morale. There appears to be a gap in structured training for new hires, yet expectations are set at the same level as experienced staff. This makes it challenging for newcomers to perform confidently and efficiently.

Pros

I have met many talented colleagues across regions at the working level. such people are genuinely here to learn and contribute, but they have been increasingly hard to find these days in Asia.

Cons

After the C-suite leadership change, culture has deteriorated significantly. New leadership relies on fear-based management rather than empowerment or trust. Singapore site leaders and HR follow this same top-down, unsupportive style, where they would rather not question but accept the word of upper management as the law. Employee well-being and psychological safety are not priorities and this makes us feel unsupported We now have a culture that discourages speaking up or challenging poor decisions from our Managers ( speaking from Asia/ Singapore perspective). Morale is collapsing, good people are leaving, and those who stay feel silenced and undervalued, and Innovation and Collaboration are suffering under this hostile culture. We have lost our way with the new leadership. Think twice before joining the Singapore Office . Unless you’re prepared to work in fear, with weak leaders and no real support, this is not the place for you.

We appreciate your honesty. We understand that team dynamics and local leadership make all the difference in an employee’s experience. At ASM, we’re reinforcing our leadership expectations and providing more targeted support and training to ensure our leaders/managers are enabling, not limiting, their teams. Feedback like yours is critical to building a culture where every leader is held accountable to our values.
