Cons

TRAINING AT&T will paid for more or less 7 weeks of training, now i have experience working in teleccomunications, so i got experience in this type of work. This is what actually happend on training , we were introduced to the company program where you can look for information about billing, policies, basically everything in at&t world, the trainer will said ok let's learn about at&t next you guys are gonna read this article and do like a practice on it later ,you have 20 minutes. Then the trainer will open pandora music and put music very loudly in the classroom , i don't know about you, but this is not the best way to learn something new and that is gonna be crucial because ,if you don't learn this basically you can't do your job and you're gonna fail. I talked to the trainer about this and she said and i quote ," i will not put down the music because upstair is worst ,and you have to deal with it or leave the company", when the group got the actual floor , most of us were lost without knowing what to do or how to resolve customer issues, i personally didn't even know how to use the programs or where to go to find them, and the most ridiculous thing we were introduced to program in the floor so the trainer didn't even do her job correctly cause we had to learn new program and procedures on the floor and not on the training room. ABSENCE OMG! Run for your life. This people believe they are in the slave era, you're not allowed to miss work ever period. When you're a new hire you get like 1 point to miss work so basically a day, if you reach 1.50 you're review for termination ,the maximun of points is 8.00 but you have to be working 27 weeks for that to happend. The other thing that they have is exchange time let's said your shift is 8-5 but you need to leave at 12 because life happens ,they can help you with that you will need to do those hours that you missed so basically this is free overtime because you're not gonna get paid overtime for exchange. You only will get 8 hours personal time off every 3 MONTHS, and your vacations in 7 months of employment , and you can only use it if they have personal time off available in the app, which of course if they are busy not gonna happend, and even with the personal time off on your bank if they don't have it available you would have to take a point. PAYCHECK if you ever get paid incorrectly there is not human resources or payroll numbers to call you have to get to the union and they review it. BATHROOMS if you are a person that need to go frequently to the bathroom stay away from this company. I go frequently to the bathrooms and personally this has never been an issue with any other job that i had in the past ,including call center jobs, until i reach at&t. One day my manager sit with me and told me and i qoute " so you know we have reports for everything right, so they notice that you been logging out during they day to go to the bathroom , each time that you log out you're the last person to take a phone call and ,this is call call avoidance , and therefore we can fired you for this , do you have any reason to be going to the bathroom so frequently " so i said yes and explain my medical condition, he told me then and i need to get a job accomodation for frequent bathroom breaks or i could get fired. I did this and the doctor said to at&t the following he needs 4-6 bathrooms breaks and they ask the doctor that he need to put EXACTLY THE TIME that i was gonna expend in the bathroom so he said between 5-10 minutes this is what at&t give me, they said thet they accomodate what they can ,therefore i only have 20 minutes in the whole day to go and i have to clock out and clock back in because this is unpaid time and ,if i expend more than 20 minutes and can accrued points and get fired so i end up in the same situation. I got the union involved and they are investigating. MUSIC! Ok this one is the worst!, the worst and unprofessional work environment of them all . AT&T has music speakers in the technical support side of the call center, the music is control by the managers, sometimes they put spanish ghetto music and english ghetto music all day long. But this is not the worst part, this is, there are co-workers who have bluetooth speakers in their desk with their own kind of music, so now you have at&t speaker playing music and 2-3 other speakers around you doing the same, i have complained even with the director of the call center nothing has been done or has change , the only thing that they did , change me from my desk to another location with no music, no manager and no one to help me if something go wrong I DID THIS BECAUSE I READ THE REVIEW WHEN I WAS THINKING INTO GOING TO ATT ,AND EVEN THOUGHT THERE IS A LOT OF THEM WHO SAID THEY ARE BAD I CHOOSE NOT TO BELIEVE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A WISE DECISION BEFORE GOING INTO THE COMPANY NOW I AM TRAP IN THIS JOB UNTIL I GET ANOTHER ONE BETTER

Pros

You work for unengaged bosses that are incapable of holding poor performers accountable , allowing you to not have to work much at all to get by. If you're salaried you can work 20 hours a week and your boss won't know because they work probably less than that, I wouldn't know because they're never anywhere to be found. They no longer have offices and they're supposed to spend time at their 5 or so stores. I saw my boss for maybe an hour per month.

Cons

Dying channel. In line stores sales people literally continue to get paid less and less because sprint pays poorly and paying employees on the Frontline less equals better reported numbers to wallstreet. It's all smoke in mirrors. You're asked to produce X while others don't produce at all and they get paid the same. You're forced to sell a cheap security system which 1000% of the time there are install issues. Bunch of crap. You're forced to sell Directv , which is fine however, that's a dying breed. Locations with more "sales" get praised even though the "new" customers have had directv for years. They just were talked into putting it in the wife's name or vice versa, etc. If you actually are talented your area manager will simply increase your targets. Awesome, thanks. The cons go on for days. If you make minimum wage now and you have a full set of teeth then you could probably get a little bit of a raise going to att. If you possess a shred of sales talent then you would be throwing money out of the window working here. Thousands of jobs were just cut country wide including buffalo. More cuts will come as they realize they don't need area managers or "directors of sales". Too many cons to list.
