Pros

If you can get through the BS and to a department that doesn't promote less qualified people-there are still parts that are worth working for.

Cons

At one time Pacific Bell was a great company than got bought by SBC who bought AT&T. Think they lost sight of employees put the hard work into the business.

Pros

Benefits are decent. Other than that I can't think of any.

Cons

I could write a book. Management is crooked as hell and there's no recourse for their actions. They have this so-called "no retaliation" policy. Yeah, right. My asst. manager went through my locker, looking for printed emails between my manager and I. I had printed the emails because they were regarding an issue with another employee. The asst. manager showed those emails to the employee. When I went to the CWA about it there was a meeting and the asst. manager denied everything. They found her on surveillance going through my locker and then showing the employee my emails. Not a d*** thing happened to her. After all that, the asst. manager ran me into the ground to other employees and treated me like s***. This was A-Okay to upper management. Management takes advantage of their exempt status and they take more than ten vacations a year. There is no accountability for management attendance. The attendance point system is a complete joke. Treatment of different positions within the store is not fair. Management plays favorites and they talk about everyone behind their backs. I had a schedule mix-up and for whatever reason, one of my managers thought it was cool to text another employee and have a discussion about MY attendance. This company is terrible to work for. If The job market was decent in my area I would have been gone a long time ago. Last month I was told that I could choose to go part-time 11/1 or stay full-time until 1/15/14 and voluntarily resign. I had to choose resignation. I can't work a part-time job. No severance, no nothing. So much for seniority. My part-time counterpart is keeping her job with no change. So much for seniority. Don't think for a minute you're going to be allowed any sort of individuality, either. You can't even keep a photo of your kids at your work space because they don't allow "personalization" of the work space. Have tattoos? Better keep that s*** covered. In my area you aren't even allowed to wear short sleeves at work and the temperature in the store is kept at 78-80. I have gotten physically sick from the heat in my store while having to do merchandising resets. Public bathrooms are located in the only area we have to eat our lunches and conveniently that is also the same place as where my work space is. Customers have vomited and s*** on the bathroom floors and you guessed it. Employees get to clean it up, customers are rude as s*** to you and all you can do is take it. I've been called every name in the book, been called useless, pointless, and stupid. I've had phones thrown at me, bills wadded up and thrown in my face, and have been physically threatened. All you can do is take it. All your manager cares about is if the customer got a receipt because if they did then they'll get a customer satisfaction survey.

Pros

Good peers, good vacation policy, good health benefits, good retirement match.

Cons

It feels like we're constantly about to be outsourced. Executive leadership keeps firing people left and right, and expects the rest of us to keep up the same level of work. The current model is to bring in more and more people from outside companies, especially those in India, and the communications issues are just getting worse and worse as a result. It seems that if the executive leadership got their way, they would just send the whole of IT to India and be done with it.
