Pros

Buying power. Clout with manufacturers they represent. Some good references from key clients.

Cons

Lack of vision, mission statement, execution. Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen: Everybody is a Vice-President at AVI-SPL. People get the title, then they leave or get fired. The AV industry is rapidly evolving, but the changes at AVI-SPL are horrendous. There are some good offices (the legacy SPL mostly), but the new offices, and some acquisitions in new territories are not performing.

Pros

The company is pro training, they start you right off the bat and it is good to see investment in it's employees. The regional management seems very interested in supporting it's employees and moving on from some of the bad that other people have discussed in their reviews

Cons

Benefits could be a bit better... I mis-read the employee handbook and the PTO is lower than I thought when I joined.

Pros

-Technicians don't typically have to install screens or structure for projectors -I got as much OT as I wanted, and they seemed flexible to your wants/needs -Put me into training immediately at their own expense -They actually follow the law with paying you prevailing wages, travel, etc. -High mileage reimbursement rate at IRS recommended level

Cons

-Benefits suck -Pay is below what you're worth (Hardly competitive) -Every tech gets a company vehicle, even if they have zero need for one (Wasteful) -Put new hires into lots of training immediately (Wasteful; lack of risk management) -Management doesn't follow up with you after a complaint to see if there was more to the story than they were told, they'd rather just fire you over nothing (Irresponsible) -Technicians aren't really that experienced or don't care about working hard, just milking the clock, even when not necessary -Company laptop and phone are more of a hassle and certainly not a necessity (Wasteful; higher risk of owing them money if either sustains damage) -Very high turnover rate and consistently poor ratings on here -Many people have a bad attitude and think they're better than they are -Hardly any quality control, if any, drawings have no review process, more mistakes than should ever be acceptable from an industry "leader" -Engineers make too many mistakes that don't get caught until it's too late -Always running out of materials, stock room full of unnecessary crap and not what you need to do your job the right way -Employees are typically slow and lethargic and somehow hard work and excellence still go unnoticed -Too many people work from home and aren't available in the capacity or at the time that you need them ....I could go on
