Pros

Seems to be some room for advancement (if your in the right circle) Sometimes training is approved Reasonably steady work

Cons

Every office seems to be run differently. When work slows, you get sent home. Pay increases are seldom. High turnover of project management staff

Pros

the work you deliver is for Dow, so you can use it on your resume. co-workers are extremely positive and helpful despite the management. There is a pretty good work/life balance. p.s. on some occasions this old guy, from management, will drop some bagels and donuts. good for you if you like donuts.

Cons

wow. where should I start. Management is the biggest problem. People say, to kill the snake, you need to cut its head off, in AVI's case, its a$$h0L3. People get promoted not based on their skills but mostly based on their friendship with upper management. Salary increase usually happens on your anniversary and you get 3%, which in many cases is .50 to a dollar per hour because of your low starting salary. If you want more than that, prepare yourself to spend hours of building a case why you deserve more and why you are way underpay. Several weeks later, in most cases 1-2 months later they will drop another .50 to shut your mouth. At your interview they tell you about the huge opportunities contracting for Dow. The reality is that you most likely will not get on Dow's payroll unless your manager is your mom. The unwritten rule is that, if you can stand working for AVI for 10 years you are more likely to get hired by Dow. 10 years is your test, can you do it? (think about it) I am sorry but the benefits package is ridiculous. Hope you don't need to use their insurance. p.s. forget about any professional training at AVI. The company will invest 0 or very little in their employee's professional growth.
