The corporate culture and hierarchy is a network of who you know and not one of competencies. The management is a parade of autocratic and persuasive leaders who definitely need ongoing emotional intelligence training. Quite honestly, movement up the organization chart is severely impeded if you are not one of the manager's faves or if your manager fears your success over his/hers. Continuous corporate restructuring and 'strategic objectives' impose the threat of reductions in force that loom over this corporate giant like a hawk swooping down on its prey. After many years of employment, my advice to any job/career seeker is to avoid this soul-sucking, Dow Jones focused, profit over people organization.
