We see potential in you!

Pros

I have been working at Abramson Labor group for over a year. I was interviewed for an intake paralegal position and was offered a job later that day. On my first day of work I was told that I would be in a completely new and different position. They saw a potential for me to fill that position, and had the confidence to drop me in. I have had a blast with it ever since. The partners take a look at their staff and see the potential in them. They fast track many employees to senior positions that would generally be reserved for senior people, and because they know how to pick great people, they flourish! It is wonderful to have the confidence of your employers and to work hand in hand with a wonderful team that has your back. I am happy to come into work every day. It is like working with family, but professionally.

Cons

While I have had some minor issues in the past, when I have brought the issue to the partners, we have a quick conversation to address the issue, and they really listen and quickly work to remedy the situation. In the end, it comes out as a pro.

Pros

Free parking Colleagues are friendly Good work/life balance - rarely worked more than 8 hour days and never on weekends

Cons

Overall dysfunctional workplace – the “game plan” changes dramatically every month or two, then there are 2-3 weeks where everyone is stressed trying to figure out what their jobs are and who does what. Also I was paid late several times. Ethically, partners don’t have clients’ best interests in mind. Making a quick buck is more important than doing right for the clients... Clients realize this and understandably get angry. There isn’t much job stability – the firm seems to over-expand, then fire people when they realized they hired too much. Twice I came to work to find that several employees were fired all at once. Office is dirty, there’s a shared bathroom with several other businesses, the elevators get stuck all the time, and cubicles are set up like a call-center.

High turnover rate

Pros

Laid back environment and camaraderie amongst some employees

Cons

Constant changes to the firm's business model and structure, and generally a poor work environment. Partners exhibit an inability to manage employees, leading to an increasingly high turnover rate. It's a boutique law firm, operated much like a startup company that is learning as it goes. Many Clients are generally upset and disappointed with this firm because most attorneys are managing too large of a caseload and the priority is making money in the short term.
