Pros

Compensation is above average for this market.

Cons

Toxic work environment, lack of nurses. Poor middle & upper management. No support. Toxic work environment. High turnover in all departments. We had a mass exodus of long time highly qualified employees from numerous departments in the last 3 months.

Not worth it

Pros

You help people, build relationships with your clients and their families. Staff are nice. You can take off whenever and however much you want. Daily pay allows you instant access to your check, helps for unexpected expenses.

Cons

The pay is terrible. No gas mileage paid. No incentives to stay on. Constant shortage of employees. Probably pay more gas to go to work than money actually pocketed. More work than paid. Food service make avg 10-12 some 15 even with the new required wages for cost of living and in the field of caring for a human being your paid nearly min wage.

Unmanageable workload

Pros

We have a wonderful team and great manager who pulls for us whenever we need help. I truly have a sense of a work family w my team which is a big reason I stay with this company.

Cons

Nurses are overworked everywhere including Accentcare. This company will not halt admission even though we do not have the staff to support the census. And it only affects the patient at the end of the day. We are being stretched to our maximum and patients are not getting the care they deserve as they die. We are no longer the nurses who sit at the patients bedside helping to ease their suffering, instead, we are becoming the rushed nurses who put out the immediate flame and order supplies/meds and on to the next. This is not what hospice is about but it is what hospice has become unfortunatly. Such a shame they care more about profit than the actual people in our care.
