Pros

Good stepping stone to learn Hospice do's and don'ts. Not many pros, for Windsor branch due to lack of support from corporate level.

Cons

Lots of pressure to admit patients even though not appropriate for Hospice. There is repercussions if you do not admit every referral. They say that every admission has two physicians that sign off on a terminal diagnosis, but more often than not the PCP does not ever call back to discuss the patient. In the last 6 months they have either fired or laid off 16 employees due to census dropping by more than 50%. No support from corporate level, they say they are bringing in help but since this "help" had arrived the situation has been worse. They do not pay overtime even though you work more than 50 hours a week.

AccentCare follows hospice regulatory guidelines issued by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid) for all patient admissions and ongoing care. When a patient is referred for evaluation for admission, a comprehensive assessment is completed. Then 2 physicians must determine if the patient is appropriate for hospice and must certify that the patient is terminally ill with a life-expectancy of no more than 6 months, should the disease follow its normal course. If at any point, the patient no longer meets hospice eligibility criteria, the discharge process is initiated in accordance with CMS hospice discharge guidelines.
