Pros

I have been with Achievement First for 5 years now. It is the longest that I have ever been with one employer and do not plan on going anywhere any time soon. I love the support and opportunity for growth that I've had with this organization. I've grown tremendously with this organization and I am truly thankful. I came on as a teacher first and my experience was completely different than the experience I had working at a public school. I was observed every single week, received feedback every single week and received resources to support my instruction. I also really appreciate that I work for an organization that truly values its people and prioritizes adult culture.

Cons

Ensuring I continue to push myself to have strong balance between work and my personal life, especially given the fact that I now have a one year old.

Thank you for sharing your experience and the kind words. You hit on exactly what we're trying to offer everyone willing to make the commitment to be part of our team at AF. We believe deeply that our people, just like our kids, deserve the opportunity to grow, to be pushed, but also be supported by a true team. I'm glad to see AF is the longest you've ever been with an employer and I hope you keep growing with us for years to come, perhaps into a leader of one of our schools. I am also impressed that you have the time to be a dean of students, raise a one-year old, and still contribute to the dialogue on Glassdoor. Thank you for taking the time! -Tom Kaiser, Chief Talent Officer

Thank you for taking the time to give this feedback. There's no doubt that our school leaders play the key role in the staff culture at AF. We've got so many great leaders in this network and we're actually in the middle of studying what our most effective people leaders do so that we can spread that knowledge across our network. Also, as much as we focus on growth here, it was great to hear about your positive experience with our professional development. If you've got a moment, and would be willing to drop me a line to explain more about what you mean in regards to the "rigid structures" or "corporate" feel, I would love to hear and understand more about how that was a part of your experience. We pride ourselves on being a well run organization where teachers are set up for success, but certainly that sometimes makes things feel more "rigid" in a way that I think we can improve. -Tom Kaiser, Chief Talent Officer, tomkaiser@achievementfirst.org
