We’re so happy to read about your overall positive experience at Achievement First! That said, we want to address the concerns listed in your cons, as that is far from the environment we want at Achievement First. We care deeply about retention and we know we can’t deliver on our promise to families and kids without the majority of folks in our schools staying and getting better. We know retention is fueled by providing the type of environment we all want to work in. There are so many ways we strive to do this, but one of the most important is our commitment to truly inclusive workplaces. We’re also working hard on sustainability, including shortening our school day! Additionally, we work hard to cultivate our Black, Latinx and Multi-racial staff, and when we look at the data, we see that we retain our BLM staff members at a higher rate than we do non-BLM staff. Hearing from our team about where they’d like to see changes is important to us, and we hope we can keep growing and improving alongside our teachers. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Pros

This school and network are big on feedback. That being said, they take feedback for the network themselves and the even the leadership team for their schools to make it a place that shows growth and trust in their employees. In my particular school, they are putting great emphasis on school culture to create a positive working environment. As a new employee for Achievement First, it makes me feel valued and welcomed seeing changes going in a positive direction from their former years!

Cons

It is not for those that are not hard workers! Doing your job, and doing it well, takes a lot of time and effort. You need to stay on top of your work or things can pile up very quickly, such as emails!
