Pros

Working at Achievement First means that every day I get to help teachers and kids make an impact on our world. I believe our kids are the leaders of tomorrow and to know that I get to have a hand in their development and growth is exciting and humbling. I'm also surrounded by some amazing colleagues who are devoted to our mission and to supporting each other. We do that through a lot of kindness and love, but also not being afraid to hold each other and themselves to the highest standards. I feel both pushed to grow and very loved by my team.

Cons

The hardest thing about this work is the hours. We work really hard and we push ourselves a lot to be better. Sometimes the pressure for high standards can deviate into pressure for perfection. Whenever that happen, though, I ground myself in our work and the kindness of my team.

Pros

I enjoyed working for AF. If you are applying for a school based position, I would say to be cautious of the adult culture of the school. Are teachers and school leaders aligned? Does everyone work together as a team? Do you see yourself fitting in with the culture at the school? Organization and alignment of the school team will make or break your experience at AF. Each school is different, so it's impossible to speak on all schools as a whole.

Cons

Be sure to advocate for your needs and support in your first year and expect A LOT of feedback. There is not a lot of career growth within the EA role.

Pros

The best part of this job is the work life balance.

Cons

The pay is awful and the current raise is a joke to say the least. It's all smoke and mirrors with no substance.
