Pros

I worked at AF for four years and I will fully admit that it was one of the best experiences of my life. I worked with educators that not only knew their content, but truly cared about kids. Coaches worked with me to build skills and make me a better educator. I felt prepared and confident when I left AF for personal reasons.

Cons

I will also fully disclose that the hours you put in can be difficult. You are expected to uphold to high standards for yourself professionally and for your students. In my opinion, students deserve this though. The work is always worth the effort too. When you see a student feel successful, you can't help but feel like you're doing something right.

Pros

The people are incredibly passionate about the work. As a member of the AF team and family, you are on the ground, working with students that need you the most. AF has a tremendous culture of growth and development. You will definitely learn a ton in your time working at AF. You also will have many opportunities to grow as a leader, if that is something you are interested in. AF has all sorts of opportunities available

Cons

As a network, AF has not mastered staff retention, though there are strong pockets of success within some schools. There are a lot of young professionals working at AF. This means it's easier to grow/develop/be promoted but can cause challenges having to do with strategic/long term planning.

Pros

Tons of feedback from expert teachers and leadership. The school I worked at had an amazing leadership team. There was a plethora of resources for planning.

Cons

Lots of feedback sometimes lead to lots of extra work making your materials better. The hours were long, but we were compensated for extra hours tutoring.
