I truly don't know where to begin. For starters, please refer to these steps: Google Zack Schuch, select images, and scroll until you see a picture of him with devil horns (it's usually in the first couple of lines of images)(also lol). When you get to the page, COMMAND + F "Zack Schuch" (founder) and Grant Gulledge. This blew my mind and the site is like a deep abyss into how deep this industry goes.
Every single thing that this company does is attempted brainwashing. Each morning is kicked off bright and early with a pep up, big game talking speech that says "Yeah this job sucks- but at least you're not working 9 to 5!!" ....are you kidding? I WISH I had been working 9 to 5! I was doing literally 60 hour weeks because I was guilted into taking the fast track.
Every. Single. Time. I requested time off I was guilted by my direct manager and ended up being forced into coming in. When I went through corporate training, they literally gave me mind games to play with the interviewees and special ways of phrasing our commission scheme and the general essence of the job so that they sounded more glamorous. (FYI you will be selling anything from phone plans to TV services inside Target, Costco, Sam's Club, etc)
When I applied to this job, I believe that they advertised it as something related to marketing in sports- like what? I stood in a store, bothered people, then went home to bury my shame in....more meetings!
It kills me seeing their responses to the reviews that say "We wish you had taken up your concerns with management" because this was not a safe space to talk about your needs. Any request for time off or personal concerns are disregarded and cast aside. Say you were the golden child, you ask off for a FULL weekend?! Absolutely not! You would quickly be replaced and forgotten about until you have a big week of sales.
Anybody curious- the pay structure is that you either:
1) Get $10/hr, for anywhere from 30-60 hours a week; this is based on your own work ethic, I personally was working morning to late night 6-7 days a week so I was pretty happy with my checks (not the sleep deprivation).
2) Your commission- this applies if you make more than the $10/hr, 40/hr week pay structure (AKA you bring in more in commission than $400 in a week.
I personally didn't have a problem with this pay structure, probably due to the fact that I was working so much that my check looked nice.
This place is NOT a pyramid scheme- I think for those you have to invest your own money into it. That never really happens unless you count the professional clothes you have to buy or the commute that isn't compensated (I don't count these). It is however, extremely warped.
You should definitely read the website that I discuss in the first paragraph before accepting a job here. I agree with most of the stories although they do seem a little hellfire and brimstone lol. Take it with a grain of salt.
I think that overall I care more about my work experience than the amount of money I make, and that this explains perfectly why we weren't a great match for each other.
I was also guilted and bribed into leaving a good review on GlassDoor last year (has since been deleted). But as you're going through these comments, it's pretty easy to notice that most positive reviews are "Current" employees and most truthful reviews come from "Former" employees. (Keep in mind that management at the company keeps a vigilant watch on comments so they could start asking employees to list themselves as "Former".
Also, I've had jobs since Acquire and during the interview they have literally roasted me for working there and having it on my resume just from hearing war stories.
