Pros

Working a 4 day week or being off on Friday. Onsite Cafeteria.

Cons

Almost everything else. They give you an option to work a 4 day week or work from home on Friday but regardless you will be working on Friday. In fact you will be working 60-65 hours a week in most positions. They don't provide training to any of their employees. Instead they expect you to know everything that you need to know when you come in and don't expect to receive future training. If you don't learn it on your own then they fire you. In some cases within 6 months. They refer to your first 3 months as "drinking from a water house" and they think that's cute instead of trying to improve their practices. They over pay people because they know that the company culture sucks so bad and people will simply suffer and stay for the money. The benefits are subpar. HR is the absolute worst because they are being lead by people who totally lack leadership skills, personality and in some cases HR experience. Most of the department is being ran with a likeness of a college sorority with decisions being made based on likeability and pettiness and not skillset. The biggest kicker is that they lay people off on a regular basis without cause or because employees have opinions outside of management and not simply because of company performance. The company over pays severance because of their unfair practices of terminating employees with cause. If employees did not accept the severance packages and instead sued the company for their unfair and unethical practices then maybe they would learn a lesson and become a better company. when the leaders in HR are unethical you find yourself at a company that has created a culture that his unacceptable and employees that are unhappy.

Pros

Compensation was enough to pay the therapy costs.

Cons

This is the absolute worst company I've ever worked for. I learned a valuable lesson; “the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.” Acuity Brands Lighting claims to be a “lean” organization, so I will grade its performance on that standard. Here are a few examples of how they have implemented "lean" principles or “bare bones”: PRODUCT MANAGERS: I was on the Costco call and was the buyer/planner behind the operations aspect. I was advised to hold a certain quantity of stock ad without notice sales diminished and now the DC is stuck with over 300 K of material that is not selling. When I inquired to why the sales diminished and why the DC was not notified, the natural response that expressed was, “I don't have a Ouija Board!” This is an unacceptable answer and the product manager was SEROIUS! Even if this was a fluke, there aren’t any PSI calls to discuss the under/over of product. The weekly inventory calls are a joke, “natural burn-down”, is the weakest excuse to deplete inventory and everyone on the call echo’s the same non-sense. Inventory calls should be monthly and you report out the 5 whys for the major contributors. All the time wasted on these calls and the preparation for could be used to actually deplete stock. SYSTEMS: Whose idea was it to use 10 different platforms and expect them to run fluidly? How about we use Oracle and that's it. Maybe get an update or two. Information is inaccurate, outdated, and/or impossible to find. There are multiple web-based tools that don’t communicate with each other, causing frustration and complicating the process. There is a Heavy reliance on manual systems. No reinvestment of profits into better systems/infrastructure. THE WORK: Long hours (12-14 hours/day) 7:00 AM till whenever you finished “non-negotiable”. Zero work to life balance, cause employees to leave. Understaffed, overtime is the panacea. Buyer/planners will spend inordinate amounts of time doing the job that customer service is supposed to be doing. Buyer/ Planners are expected to audit locations for KB cards with out a forklift. How is someone supposed to count inventory or see a kanban cards on shelves that are 20-30 feet high? COWORKERS: Hourly associates and group leads are underappreciated and get a lot of blame. Management is terrible. There is a absolutely no positive reinforcement. The hourly associates are constantly threatened with write-ups. HR: Advised that employees wont be fired and that lay-offs with severance are the standard. “It’s the salary employees against the hourly. HR is centralized and inadequate. My offer letter was inaccurate and needed to be adjusted to accommodate California laws. It took two months for my social security number to appear correctly on my pay statements, which I still don't receive. Facility: This has been the most disgusting environment to work in. The abundance of trash and dirt on the floors, shelves, computers, bathrooms is intolerable. The employees don't respect bathroom cleanliness; there is a booger wall.
