Pros

Some teams have good interesting work though majority teams are not doing exciting work.

Cons

Senior leadership seemed somewhat political with many old-timers keeping power and directing roadmaps without letting ICs decide what to work on.

Pros

Love some of my co-workers. Benefits and time off generous.

Cons

Hard to get promoted/not common. Minimal pay raises. Easy to get pigeon holed or stagnate in one job. Recently, a wave of anxiety about keeping up in the AI market has led to lots of panicked hiring, firing, and questionable/toxic behavior on the marketing side (top-down).

A company in decline

Business Outlook

Pros

Good benefits, flexible schedules, relatively low pressure compared to other tech companies

Cons

My experience at Adobe has been mostly terrible. Managers who are not trained to manage people (no real feedback, no delegation...the basics). Some "directors" only have 2 or 3 direct reports...so there are just too many of them! A matrixed environment that works against getting anything done in any timely fashion (sometimes the bureaucracy rivals the Soviet Kremlin). A weak product organization that is actually run by engineers. The company is mostly remote so business is conducted on a very performative Slack environment. Everyone fights to be "visible" so they will get promoted, and there is every incentive to get one's own feature ideas prioritized so that you will get promoted instead of thinking of what's best for the customer. They love to brag about "innovation" awards but the reality is that the company is terrible at creating 0-1 products (all the famous products were acquisitions) for the above reasons. Job applicants beware: Their recruiters often post fake roles on LinkedIn even if they have someone internal selected for the job already. They also keep reposting even if they have no intention of looking at any new candidates. They love wasting everyone's time! The declining stock price says it all: this company is not in a position to win against rising competition. They only play not to lose, which is not a good strategy.
