Pros

+ Flexible scheduling + 20% Discount + One on every street corner in FL + Discounted Stock + Discounted health and dental insurance + Easy to get a job at with no experience or work history + Great job for a high school or college student. +Job security (Auto parts will always be pure profit)

Cons

Advance is a Big Box retailer (Walmart, Target, Bestbuy) and not an auto parts retailer as its name implies. As with other Big Boxes the following cons occur: +Low pay (generally $8 starting, with 25 cent raises every year) +Constant cost cutting +Low Hours (see above, Fulltime = 28-35 hours) +Inadequate Staffing (Manager is salery so expect to work 70 hour weeks for 50 hours pay inorder to have the store open) +Blurring of Jobs (cashiers will do Manager work, Manager's do cashier's job) +Limited job growth. (you will never be more than a manger) +Dealing with the public. Advance has the following cons in particular: +Inexperienced employees (pay is too low to retain people with automotive knowledge. A good example, for the first 3 years working for the company I didn't even have a driver's license.) +Disconnected between stores and upper management. +Customers expect us to fix their cars, when we just sell parts. +No marketing. Most people call us "AutoZone" or a defunct company "Discount Auto Parts" +Horrible computer system +Outsourced Tech Support +Lack of focus on core business +Worst commercial program in terms of pricing and availabilities +Constantly changing goals, acronyms, and policies. Even before we achieve said goals, learn the new acronyms, and incorporate the new policies. +Only management gets bonuses even if you double your budget.

Pros

If you like cars and enjoy working with the public, you will like working at Advance.

Cons

Pay is lousy. The DM thinks 25k is great pay. Once they hire you they will cut your hours to nothing. This job is a job for someone who is living at home. If you are trying to support a family don't bother with Advance. Another issue is all of these acronym's the upper wigs come up with. Its like you have to remember all this crap when all you need to do is take care of the customer. Customers expect you to be a full service garage. Installing batteries in pouring down rain, replacing wiper blades in pouring down rain, telling them what the problem is with their car, selling the parts, and then taking it back the next day because the idiot couldnt fix it.
