Pros

Steady work, Full time employees gain vacation time after a year, offers health insurance and benefits (overpriced)

Cons

This company has been my employer for 2 years now and when i was hired on i was genuinely excited and happy to get in somewhere steady with promises of being able to move up in position.. Two years later im still in the same position making the exact same pay that I started with. I am a full time manager with a good clean record. They would rather hire from outside to fill higher positions than promote from within, corporate says that its too much paperwork and man power to do this. My district Manager was hired directly into her position with absolutely no prior automotive or parts experience, the woman has no clue how to work in a store, or run one from within. many colleagues of mine have been forced to leave due to lack of payment opportunities or growth opportunities. sales goals are absurd, they want you to make almost ten times your hourly pay in sales per hour while having to compete their massive list of daily and weekly tasks. If you do not make within 20 percent of this goal 3 times you are fired... over all most employees feel alienated from higher leadership and way over pressured from corporate. average pay for a full time sales person is about 8/hr average pay for GM is 40k/yr DARREN JACKSON MAKES OVER 700k/yr in salary plus 300k or more in bonuses... garbage...

Pros

There are no good reasons to work at advance auto parts. The only job this is better than is no job at all.

Cons

I have friend who work in fast food who make more money and get better benefits. The hours are terrible for everyone including store management. (General managers are required to work Saturdays and close on Fridays and assistant managers are required to close at least 3 times a week). Completely unrealistic sales goals and very little opportunity for bonuses.

Pros

Slightly flexible schedule, I have a small child that just so happened like to stay up late than get up early, so evening shift worked out for me. Liked helping ppl, I helped people by just knowing things not working myself to death

Cons

Hours, Pay, Raises, Upper level management you name it. These people are set behind the desk, never turned a bolt in their life, car idiots, that think they know what the working man wants when he walks into a parts store. It's not project packs and that same stupid featured item of the month. It's low prices, availability, and a competent person to help them.
