Pros

Generous PTO package & employees are dedicated to the company, despite the company not caring much about them or their needs.

Cons

Toxic Leadership Dynamics: The company was dominated by white male leadership, with female leaders leaving the organization, signaling a lack of support for diversity and inclusion. Idea Theft by Leadership: Leadership frequently stole ideas from employees and presented them as their own, undermining trust and collaboration. Disrespectful VPs: Vice Presidents showed little to no regard for employees, fostering a culture of disrespect and disregard for contributions. Anti-Family Culture: The organization lacked a family-first ethos, leaving employees struggling to balance work and personal life. Client Mismanagement: Clients were allowed to overstep boundaries, with the company bending over backward at employees' expense. Deceptive Practices: The company misrepresented fees to clients, creating an environment of dishonesty and eroding trust. Empty Promises: Leadership frequently promised clients unrealistic outcomes, setting teams up for failure. Unrealistic Goals: Goals were arbitrarily increased with little regard for feasibility, causing stress and burnout. Opaque and Unfair Compensation: The company lacked transparency about commissions and distributed them unfairly, leaving employees feeling undervalued. Exploitative Culture: Employees were treated as expendable resources, with little care for their well-being or professional development.

Pros

I love working here personally, I have moved across three different departments (all support roles) over 8 years and have had excellent experiences with my managers and coworkers, and work-life balance. There are busy times when we put in extra hours, and my supervisors have always been good about letting me flex my schedule when needed for appointments, small emergencies, mental health days, etc. Benefits are great, and the company is committed to DEI programs.

Cons

While I haven't personally worked in sales, there is a lot of sales turnover, and I know our sales reps are under a lot of pressure to bring in new business. I think that the overall culture is not as positive in that field.

Pros

I've worked in a variety of roles since I was hired on here during the pandemic and I've got to say that you can very easily get spoiled while working for Advance Local. Remote-first, but hybrid optional policy, company computers and cell phones provided, decent PTO that increases each year, an occasional bonus at the end of the year...so on and so forth. Though I was hired on for a different role, I eventually switched to the current one I hold, but between the two, you can very easily get comfortable and do the same thing day in and day out if you're not careful. While management and editors are around day by day, it's not uncommon to go a day or two without hearing from them. Personally, that's fine by me, but others might not like how hands off bosses can be. For the outlet I work for, most workers are pretty liberal.

Cons

Sometimes bosses can be hands off and sometimes bosses want to know what you're doing each second of the day. There's yearly performance reviews, but there's no real push to actually do what they outline in them. These are where you get your raises, usually 2-3%, which, doesn't do too much as other costs keep rising. In certain roles, you can get your work done early in the week and not have to work much until the weekend. Kind of decent diversity, but most workers are in their mid-30s. Very few are under 25. At least for my outlet.
